Gioia Company Owner Katherine Winkelman Awarded


Kathy Profile Picture.jpg   LOS GATOS, CA, April 23, 2013 /Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Katherine Winkelman, Owner of Gioia Italian Art and Products, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Specialty Product Sales.

As owner of Gioia Italian Art and Products, Ms. Winkelman oversees all business operations in the retail, wholesale, and online sectors. The Italian art company provides clients with unique Italian merchandise such as Venetian masks, Murano glasses, ceramics, linens, jewelry, and Sorrento inlaid wooden boxes and furniture, among others. Gioia Italian Art and Products also promotes Italian artists through presentations to Italian heritage groups and organizations.

As owner of the company, Ms. Winkelman integrates her love for Italian art, culture, and language into all her entrepreneurial pursuits. Drawing on the motto "Joy for those who give and for those who receive", Ms. Winkelman works in conjunction with other business owners and non profit organizations to aid them in marketing their products and services. On a daily basis, Ms. Winkelman is responsible for handling customer relations, developing products, planning projects, organizing finances, and overseeing marketing. With 28 years of professional experience, she has become an expert in Italian gifts and parties, Internet marketing, packaging and shipping, and art history. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in history, with a concentration in Renaissance history and early American history and a Master of Business Administration, both from Santa Clara University.

Named Volunteer of the Year, Ms. Winkelman is charitably involved with Sister Counties Commission for the County of Santa Clara, the Italian American Heritage Foundation in San Jose, and the Little Italy San Jose Project. She is also a member of Santa Clara University Catala Club and former president of Community Against Substance Abuse. While working at CASA, Ms. Winkelman established a teen program for middle and high school students who were seeking to participate in alternative social activities within the Los Gatos, California area. With the help of her colleagues and a four year term as president of the organization, she was able to set forth a club for teens which was music, social activities, educational and peers helping peers oriented. With 20 years of experience as a youth minister, Ms. Winkelman has worked collaboratively with the community, police departments, and church groups on drug free campaigns.

Ms. Winkelman is a member of the Santa Clara University Alumni Association, NAWBO, Italian Historical Society of America, and Global Women's Leadership Network. In her free time, she enjoys watching football, baseball, and basketball, skiing, spending time in Lake Tahoe, traveling to Italy, and spending time with her family, especially her husband Karl and their three sons families. 

While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
