Buon Anno 2018!
Celebrations Continue at Gioia!
Buon Anno 2018 and a continued h

oliday season in
Italia. There are many things I love about the Italian culture and one of them is the continued celebrations in Italy. After a traditional Christmas on December 25th, the Italians celebrate the feast of Santo Stefano with continued merriment in the streets, churches, and homes. Saturday, January 6th is the Feast of the Kings, a memorial of their visit to baby Jesus or the Epiphany.
La Befana, who missed traveling to visit the child, is thought to continue to travel the world in her search, bringing gifts that are meant to continue to celebrate the birth of Jesus to children everywhere. (Click here to learn more about

Shortly after, on January 27, the city of Venice will host the grand opening of the
Carnevale Season. Venice is one of the most artistic historical cities I have been to. Of course, I love the
Venetian mask art but there is also
fine lace making in Burano and incredible unique
Murano glass blowing. In addition, during
Carnevale there are some special exhibits. Here is one that I would attend as I love
Canova as a sculptor. (Click for more information about the Canova Exhibit:

Venice Carnevale events take place this year from

Here are some links for you to enjoy Venice with a glass of wine or a cup of tea.
The festivities begin January 27th on the water at six and eight p.m. shows. The first night it finishes at ten p.m. with the

From January 27th to Ash Wednesday on February 14th, the world celebrates the
Carnevale. It is also known the world around that February 14 is the day we celebrate
San Valentino, another tradition rooted in the Italian culture. The legend of
San Valentino goes back to the Romans in 176 A.D. Click this link for the story:
