Trick or Treat? Halloween costumes are a fairly new tradition in Italy. Because people in Italy live in flats, we see families and children celebrating in the piazzas of town. Several children wear simple and fun home-made costumes. A common children's costume is the ghost--made of a white bedsheet. Their tiny eyes peer out of two holes cut into the sheet as they look for new people to ask for a coin or candy. Nothing to give? Then watch out! They will dust you with flour from the bags they carry with them. Soon the piazza is covered with flour dust. It's all in good fun!
